Jesus’s birth is a welcome invitation to everyone—the poor, unknown, rich, men, and women.

To those who recognize Him as He comes, He brings hope, peace, joy, and love.

Mary and Joseph welcome Jesus, who offers a gift of peace to all.

Jesus came offering shalom—complete peace, restoration, and healing—and we participate in this peace by accepting this gift.

Jesus’s birth brings peace.

The years surrounding Jesus’s birth were politically wrecked.

Isaiah 9:6

The Hebrew word for peace in Isaiah 9:6 is shalom, which means more than just being without strife of some kind.

Wonderful Counselor – This King will implement supernatural wisdom (2nd Sam. 16:23; 1st Kings 3:28).

Mighty God – As a powerful warrior, the Messiah will accomplish all (Isa. 9:3-5; Deut.10:17; Neh. 9:32).

Everlasting Father – The Messiah will be a Father to His people eternally.

As Davidic King, He will compassionately care for and discipline them (Isa. 40:11; 63:16: 64:8).

Prince of Peace – The government of Immanuel will bring peace among the nations of the world (Isa. 2:4; 11:6-9).

It means wholeness, completeness, soundness, contentment.

To the people first encountering Jesus, even as a baby, he was there to bring wholeness, restoration of relationship between God and other people, and also personal peace.
